This week's grocery deals

There are lots of great deals this week! I started my shopping yesterday and will continue it today...so let's get going!

And....if you haven't bought your 2nd or 3rd copy of the Sunday paper yet go for it! Or follow the links that I'll put up to print off coupons to use.

Walgreen's

I don't do much shopping at Walgreen's but every once in awhile they have some great deals. Combined with coupon use and register rewards (more on that later) you can do pretty well.

Yesterday I got:

*4 large bottles of Suave shampoo for 1.49 each. Plus, in Sunday's paper there were coupons for .50/2, which made them 1.24.
BUT, with Walgreen's register rewards (found in their ad), if you purchased four of this particular item you got a certificate for $3 off your next purchase. So I purchased the 4 bottles in one transaction and in the next one I bought:
*3 2 ltr. bottles of soda (.79 a piece)
*Chex snack mix (on sale for .99, and I had a .50 coupon, so it was .50!)
*one more bottle of shampoo

With the use of the $3 certificate, I paid only pennies for my next transaction!

Target

Target this week has a deal that if you buy 2 pkgs. of Starbucks coffee for $14 ($7 a piece) you get a $5 gift card for your next purchase! (You can see where this is going....)

I happen to have someone on my Christmas list who drinks Starbucks, so that was a perfect gift! After I picked that up, I bought:

*a 10 lb. bag of potatoes--on sale for 1.99 (normally $5.99), but on the bags there was a coupon for $1 off if you purchased one Pillsbury Crescent roll.
*One crescent roll pkg. Not that great of a deal, but with a .25 coupon and the added $1 off it made sense.
*4 lbs. of Land O' Lake butter...Nothing works better than butter for holiday cooking and baking! They are on sale for $2.25, but I had coupons for .55 off! So that made them $1.70!
*Butter not your thing? I bought Land O' Lakes butter spread for .24! It is on sale for .79, and pair it with this coupon and you have a deal!
*I bought two boxes of Stove Top Stuffing for .79 a box.
*3 boxes of Betty Crocker potatoes...on sale for .79, and I had a coupon from Sunday's paper for .35 off, so that made them each .44!
*2 packs of gum (of course, I had a buy one get one coupon)

In all, after I used my free $5 gift card I spent $7.88 on everything except for the coffee, which adds $14. But that's a Christmas gift so it comes out of a different budget! :) Plus I got a coupon at the register for $1 off a cafe hot pretzel which makes a nice snack next time we go!

No Frills

I found out this week that a ministry that my church supports (Mission for All Nations) is desperately in need of many things, but canned fruit was on thing they mentioned specifically. So, I noticed that No Frills had Del Monte pineapples on sale for .55 a can, and I had coupons from Sunday's paper for $1 off 4. I had 3 coupons, bought 12 cans of pineapple, and only spent $3.60! These are great to donate or to keep for your own use.

Hy-Vee

Hy-Vee also has Dole mandarin oranges and tropical fruit on sale for .99 a can. I had a coupon for .55/2, which makes it about .73 a can. Not bad!
They also have generic brand brown and powdered sugar for .78 a bag which is another great thing to have on hand.

Price Matching

The next several deals I'm going to go out and get today by heading to Walmart or Super Saver to price match.

*Super Saver has 2 pk AA Duracell batteries for.58!!!

*Bakers has Cool Whip for .78
*Super Saver has Jello brand pudding for .44 a box
But...I have a 3 coupons from last Sunday's paper for $1 off when you buy one Cool Whip and 2 puddings, so when I use that and price match, it will be like getting the puddings for free!!! Just think, three cartons of Cool Whip and 6 boxes of pudding for $1.98!

*Bag and Save has Green Giant Veggie Steamers on sale for .63! But did you see the $1 off coupon in Sunday's paper? I have three of them, which gives me them for FREE! Most stores only meet the price if the coupon exceeds the item price. (Update: I just used the price match at Walmart and they gave me the full value of my coupon! So I was paid to get those vegetables!)
*Bag and Save also has Pillsbury Crescent rolls on sale for .99, so if you missed the last sale go for it. We've been eating chicken pot pie pockets and they are a hit around here! And use this coupon to save yourself . 35 more cents!

Alright, that should get us all going around here! Happy Shopping!

Price Matching:

I like HyVee, and the store at 78th and Cass will price match. (I found that the others will not only after I had all my items unloaded at the checkout with a crying baby in my cart!) Also, No Frills will price match.
